Could It Be Diabetes?!? Please Help!?
So, for my entire life my parents have been telling my diabetes runs in my family. neither my mom or dad has it though. i never took them seriously. although recently i 've been doing research on my own and it makes me worried. last year my blood test came out negative for diabetes. so i was like w.e.but now i 'm noticing changes in my body that i don 't understandi get these random twitches that occur anywhere around my body, even my penis twitches sometimes. also, for a long time. its been difficult for me to maintain and obtain an erection. whenever i get one it just starts pulsing and going down by itself. but i blame this on a urinary tract infection i got a while back, but it still hasn 't gotten better.i don 't really get fatigued during the day, just really tired sometimes.i don 't get extremely hungry a lot, just the urges lol. i don 't get excessively thirsty a lot. the main things that worry me are the twitches and erection problem.i 'm 18, weigh 215 pounds. i have been playing on a basketball team and run a lot every wed and sunday. i 've been eating healthy my entire life, my family has a very healthy lifestyle. i don 't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol.i just started to run for a mile and a half everyday because of my woes.could i be at risk for diabetes? or are my problems related to something else? Overactive Thyroid Or Diabetes?
Hey. so i went to the doctors to sort out this hypochondria ive been living with for ages. and he asked about my health and moods etc. i took my mum so i didnt sound biased or make it sound there was nothing up with me. i told him i was anxious all the time/ on edge and persistantly walking around. however my mum told him i had stages of hyperactivity and always on the go. i have been like this for a good year or so.he checked my weight, i was less than i was a year ago and i eat loads! he asked what i eat like meat and stuff to check i wasnt vegetarian. and i always blamed my metabolism for the reason of being so scrawny. so he hooked me up for a fasting blood test to check for thyroid troubles or diabetes etc. the tests came through yesterday and the doctor requested i book another appointment with him.i am worried though. is this most likely overactive thyroid or should i be even more worried? ive done my research and my birth mum (as i am adopted) suffered from hyperthyroidism herself. i dont tend to feel anything different when i have sugar and i had a few (ok, a lot) of sugar and alcohol at a party this weekend just gone and if i had diabetes surely id be in a coma from that wouldnt i? please help me guys. it would mean so much.dave (Read answers)

Hi. i was just diagnosed and talked to a dietitian today who gave me a meal plan and glucometer. i have to test 4 times a day. i have the freedom lite meter and it says that you can test alternative sites, forearms, calf, etc. i was just wondering if i have to prick my finger for best results, or will it come out equally if i test other areas? i plan on contacting the dietitian just to make sure. i was just curious if anyone else had success without pricking fingers? My grandad has been told the past that he may become diabetic, now in recent years doctors have said he is borderline diabetic and now he has been diagnosed diabetic. he is still waiting to see a specialist about his options and treatment. but the past few years he has been having panic like attacks, where he says he gets a 'hot flush feeling ' from his feet up, it gets so bad and he becomes so overwhelmed and frightened he has to ring someone or wake my granny at night. at night if he gets them he becomes restless and agitated, he can 't sleep and finds himself walking up and down the hall for no reason and he isn 't in tune with reality when he 's like this he becomes disconnected he can 't communicate with others properly, or he may become angry and scared. doctors have put him on depression tablets, he has suffered that for years, also he had a heart attack 3 years ago and went through a stint operation so doctors have said it may be panic attacks and he just lived with it as best as he knew. but now that he has diabetes and has had for years without knowing could these attacks be linked somewhat? is there anything he can do? In may, i passed out in the middle of church. before i passed out, i was dizzy and was shaking a bit. the whole room felt like it was spinning. when we stood up to sing a hymn, i decided i was going to close my eyes for a second so the room could level out. the next thing i know, i wake up and am lying on the pew with everyone standing around me. my boyfriend 's mom is an rn and said that i had a rapid pulse while passed out. my boyfriend took me home and gave me lots of juice to drink. i began to feel better after drinking it. for the past few months, i have began to get extreme headaches whenever i do not eat at the same time every day. and if i do in fact wait too long to eat, once i finally do eat, i get a little nauseous. i have also found that eating smaller meals more frequently helps keep me from getting the headaches and the nausea. recently, i have begun to urinate more frequently. sometimes i pee and need to do it again only minutes later. i do not have the extreme hunger that they say you get from diabetes. i do have fatigue, but i have been like that for as long as i can remember (i used to think i was anemic). my eyesight has been getting a bit blurry (i wear contacts and things are still blurry). last week i lost part of the vision in my left eye for about 5 minutes. i bruise easily, but again, that has been happening for as long as i can remember. i haven 't noticed any slow healing wounds though the bruises do stick around a while. no tingling in my legs or hands. i am 21 years old. my height is 5 '5 ". my weight stays between 140 and 147. i carry most of my weight along my hips and thighs. i am not pregnant. i do have a family history of diabetes. my father has type 1 diabetes. he did not have this naturally, he got in a car wreck and crushed his pancreas. my paternal grandparents, paternal aunt, and paternal great aunt all have type 2 diabetes. could these things that have been happening to me be diabetes? or could something else be wrong? if you can be of any help at all, please, answer my questions. i would like to know what is wrong asap, so i can begin to treat it before it develops into something worse. I worked at temple for 2 weeks, i did a lot of climbing ladders there, had 3-4 hours of sleep, lifting heavy objects, and staying on my feet for extended periods of time. my slippers were stolen, so i would have to go out barefoot, that too pretty often. since then, the 3 middle toes on my left foot are numb, but only the bottom part, the top is fine, i worked through this feeling for 5 days, then came home. i tried looking this up online, it it said diabetes could be the cause. i dont have a family history of it, but high cholestoral, and triglyceroids. i tried polking a pin into it, i felt it, but i 've had the feeling for a week, and today, it felt like a needle was being pushed in there, on its own, randomly. i also felt tingling what is this??? diabetes, or nerve damage from all that work???????????????????????????i can move them perfectly finenope nothing else (Read answers)

How Many High Glucose Readings Mean Diabetes?
Recently i have been thirsty all the time and urinating all the time, even during the night. so i did a couple of random glucose readings. i had a pre-meal reading of 148 and post-meal reading of 269, then at bedtime it was back to 99. this scares the bejeezus out of me. in the past i have always been 85-95. my father and many of his siblings had diabetes and onset was around the age i am now(39). how long can it take a dr. to determine if i am diabetic?btw...i am an african-american woman and years ago i suffered an episode of hypoglycemia (passed out in mall and told bg was 37). i am overweight but have come down from 218 to 160 and back up to 180. i feel healthy otherwise and usually get a clean bill of health. never had an a1c done though... Basically, i was raised on fast food, ramen, and cookies, once i got old enough to realize this was bad i couldn 't really change it, i had no money to buy better food, and no way to get to the store anyways-so my entire live at home life was filled with horrible eating habits...the second i moved out (at 19-i am now 20) i stopped that nonsense, i now eat at most 400 calleris a meal (still not perfect, but its a huge improvement, and its getting better day by day) and eat veggies with almost everything, i exorcise more (but i wont lie to you, i dont exorcise *alot* just more then i did) i confess that my lifestyle is no wear neer perfect, but im fighting for it to get better. yes, i still have those impulses, the craving for cookies, or taco bell, and occasionally i submit and get them and eat way too much, but then dont get them again for another couple weeksso, the question is...iv realized lately that i have some signs of diabetes-getting sick but feeling better after eating, sleeping way to much-is it possible i got the decease recently even though iv been changing and being better? i know im still not perfect, but...that would be the worse.... Hey. so i went to the doctors to sort out this hypochondria ive been living with for ages. and he asked about my health and moods etc. i took my mum so i didnt sound biased or make it sound there was nothing up with me. i told him i was anxious all the time/ on edge and persistantly walking around. however my mum told him i had stages of hyperactivity and always on the go. i have been like this for a good year or so.he checked my weight, i was less than i was a year ago and i eat loads! he asked what i eat like meat and stuff to check i wasnt vegetarian. and i always blamed my metabolism for the reason of being so scrawny. so he hooked me up for a fasting blood test to check for thyroid troubles or diabetes etc. the tests came through yesterday and the doctor requested i book another appointment with him.i am worried though. is this most likely overactive thyroid or should i be even more worried? ive done my research and my birth mum (as i am adopted) suffered from hyperthyroidism herself. i dont tend to feel anything different when i have sugar and i had a few (ok, a lot) of sugar and alcohol at a party this weekend just gone and if i had diabetes surely id be in a coma from that wouldnt i? please help me guys. it would mean so much.dave (Read answers)

Hi. i was just diagnosed and talked to a dietitian today who gave me a meal plan and glucometer. i have to test 4 times a day. i have the freedom lite meter and it says that you can test alternative sites, forearms, calf, etc. i was just wondering if i have to prick my finger for best results, or will it come out equally if i test other areas? i plan on contacting the dietitian just to make sure. i was just curious if anyone else had success without pricking fingers? In may, i passed out in the middle of church. before i passed out, i was dizzy and was shaking a bit. the whole room felt like it was spinning. when we stood up to sing a hymn, i decided i was going to close my eyes for a second so the room could level out. the next thing i know, i wake up and am lying on the pew with everyone standing around me. my boyfriend 's mom is an rn and said that i had a rapid pulse while passed out. my boyfriend took me home and gave me lots of juice to drink. i began to feel better after drinking it. for the past few months, i have began to get extreme headaches whenever i do not eat at the same time every day. and if i do in fact wait too long to eat, once i finally do eat, i get a little nauseous. i have also found that eating smaller meals more frequently helps keep me from getting the headaches and the nausea. recently, i have begun to urinate more frequently. sometimes i pee and need to do it again only minutes later. i do not have the extreme hunger that they say you get from diabetes. i do have fatigue, but i have been like that for as long as i can remember (i used to think i was anemic). my eyesight has been getting a bit blurry (i wear contacts and things are still blurry). last week i lost part of the vision in my left eye for about 5 minutes. i bruise easily, but again, that has been happening for as long as i can remember. i haven 't noticed any slow healing wounds though the bruises do stick around a while. no tingling in my legs or hands. i am 21 years old. my height is 5 '5 ". my weight stays between 140 and 147. i carry most of my weight along my hips and thighs. i am not pregnant. i do have a family history of diabetes. my father has type 1 diabetes. he did not have this naturally, he got in a car wreck and crushed his pancreas. my paternal grandparents, paternal aunt, and paternal great aunt all have type 2 diabetes. could these things that have been happening to me be diabetes? or could something else be wrong? if you can be of any help at all, please, answer my questions. i would like to know what is wrong asap, so i can begin to treat it before it develops into something worse. I worked at temple for 2 weeks, i did a lot of climbing ladders there, had 3-4 hours of sleep, lifting heavy objects, and staying on my feet for extended periods of time. my slippers were stolen, so i would have to go out barefoot, that too pretty often. since then, the 3 middle toes on my left foot are numb, but only the bottom part, the top is fine, i worked through this feeling for 5 days, then came home. i tried looking this up online, it it said diabetes could be the cause. i dont have a family history of it, but high cholestoral, and triglyceroids. i tried polking a pin into it, i felt it, but i 've had the feeling for a week, and today, it felt like a needle was being pushed in there, on its own, randomly. i also felt tingling what is this??? diabetes, or nerve damage from all that work???????????????????????????i can move them perfectly finenope nothing else (Read answers)

Recently i have been thirsty all the time and urinating all the time, even during the night. so i did a couple of random glucose readings. i had a pre-meal reading of 148 and post-meal reading of 269, then at bedtime it was back to 99. this scares the bejeezus out of me. in the past i have always been 85-95. my father and many of his siblings had diabetes and onset was around the age i am now(39). how long can it take a dr. to determine if i am diabetic?btw...i am an african-american woman and years ago i suffered an episode of hypoglycemia (passed out in mall and told bg was 37). i am overweight but have come down from 218 to 160 and back up to 180. i feel healthy otherwise and usually get a clean bill of health. never had an a1c done though...
